K-ETA & visa-free entry to Korea: what you need to know

Planning a trip to Korea? For many nationalities you can enter without a visa for short stays, but you may still need a K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization). Here is the short version.

Do I need a visa? Citizens of many countries can enter visa-free for tourism, usually for 30–90 days depending on nationality. Check your country's allowance before booking.

What is K-ETA? K-ETA is an online travel authorization — not a visa. If your country is visa-free, you generally apply online before departure.

• Apply at the official K-ETA site (avoid look-alike paid sites)
• Have your passport and a photo ready
• Approval is usually fast, but apply at least 72 hours before departure

On arrival - Keep your accommodation address handy for the arrival card - A return or onward ticket may be requested - Customs limits apply to cash, alcohol, and tobacco
